Welcome to Best-Diets

I’ve owned this site for a few years now, bought with the idea of doing a blog to help me lose weight.  5 years on and a stone heavier it is time that I put the idea into practice.  A bikini holiday in June gives me 3 months to shift the excess 4 stone which probably is unrealistic but as long as I’m well on the way I’ll be happy.

So a bit about me now.  I’m 36, desperately unfit having sat behind a screen for the last ten years and list cooking amongst my hobbies.  I’m definitely not adverse to a glass of wine (bottle is probably more honest) in the evening which is where most of the excess weight comes from I reckon as I eat pretty healthily. If only water would have the effects of a chilled pinot!

I’ve researched the diets and shared the knowledge.  I’m going for the Mediterranean diet as it offers so much choice but unfortunately it does involve a bit of calorie counting and lots of exercise.  I have an aversion to the gym so am stealing the niece for a dance off on the wii once a week, and have started a veg patch to get out there digging.  Doesn’t feel like exercise when you are thinking about the fabulous recipes you’ll be able to come up with when the carefully raised seeds have all grown up.  I’m also writing a blog on that – www.best-gyo.co.uk

Food is my real passion so I’ll be sharing recipes I’ve adapted to be lower in calories and to fit your diet choice.  Recipes I wouldn’t necessarily recommend for dieting but are very yummy for a dinner party can be found on Best-entertainment.co.uk while some of my fruit and veg will be made into gifts for the family, recipes shared at gifts-of-food.com

While the much welcome sunshine remains I must plant my blackcurrant bush that I will be enjoying the fruits from for the next few years.  Apparently blackcurrants are a “super food” but more about them another day.
